VI Peel

VI Peel is a medium-strength chemical peel that rejuvenates the skin, improving its texture and tone. It can address different imperfections like fine lines, wrinkles, skin dullness, and even acne effects. The blend of acids encourages a skin resurfacing process that is safe for every skin tone and type, bringing a new glow in just a couple of days!

Overview of VI Peel
VI Peel is a procedure developed by the Vitality Institute and aims to exfoliate dead skin cells, stimulate collagen production, and smooth out the surface of the skin. It combines various acids, such as retinoids, TCA, phenols, salicylic acid, and vitamin C. This formula helps counter the effects of aging while breaking down unwanted pigmentation.
This procedure takes on different forms, depending on your skin issues and goals. Below are the six forms of the VI Peel developed by the Vitality Institute:

  • VI Peel Original: A procedure that improves skin texture and quality, this is the standard version that’s suitable for every skin type. Clients use it for acne scars, sun damage, fine lines, and other general complexion issues.

  • VI Peel Precision: Slightly stronger than the original, it addresses imperfections such as more profound wrinkles and discoloration in the deeper skin layers. This precision makes it a good solution for those with darker skin tones.

  • VI Peel Precision Plus: Uses a higher concentration of active ingredients to deal with stubborn pigmentation. This makes it effective for issues such as sun spots or melasma.

  • VI Peel Purify: This one contains higher concentrations of vitamin C and salicylic acid. This way, you can deal with issues such as active acne breakouts by reducing inflammation. It also helps diminish the intensity of acne scars.

  • VI Peel Purify with Precision: The one treatment to rule them all, this combines the acne-targeting power of Purify with the pigmentation removal properties of Precision. It’s effective for those who want an even skin tone with fewer breakouts.

  • VI Peel Body: Specifically made for the whole body, it reduces imperfections such as excess pigmentation, acne, stretch marks, and many more.

The type of treatment is decided after a consultation with our providers. Depending on your needs, custom treatments can also be offered.

VI Peel comes with the following benefits:

  • Improves Skin Texture

VI peel removes dead skin cells by starting a resurfacing process and stimulating collagen production. This helps reduce skin dullness while smoothing out your pores and rough skin. Regular chemical peels should offer a more radiant complexion.

  • Smooths Signs of Aging

The acid solution in the VI peel triggers an inflammatory response in the skin, which is your body’s way of trying to heal itself. Once that happens, the body starts producing more collagen and elastin to heal the wounds and restore the skin. This leads to firmer-looking skin, with fewer wrinkles and fine lines.

  • Reduces Acne and Acne Scars

Acne happens because bacteria and dirt get trapped in your pores and start an inflammatory reaction. Active agents such as salicylic acid reduce the inflammation and calm an active breakout. On the other hand, acne scars happen because there’s not enough collagen in the skin to promote proper healing. VI peels restart that process and reduce acne scars while shrinking the size of your pores.

Benefits of VI Peel

VI peel is a well-tolerated procedure, which makes anesthesia unnecessary. Depending on the type of peel in use, it is also painless. VI peels also contain phenol, which is a numbing agent.

VI peels can cause slight stinging or tingling sensations, but they are usually well-tolerated. It’s not recommended to use numbing products in this scenario, as it can interfere with the product’s effectiveness. That said, our providers can use a fan to relieve discomfort in case your skin is particularly sensitive.

What to Expect During and After VI Peel?

VI peels are customizable based on how severe your imperfections are. However, at Glow Med Spa, our providers follow a series of steps to ensure maximum efficiency. This includes the following:

  • Skin Assessment

Before anything, our providers will take a look at your skin and discuss your goals. Based on the severity of your skin issues, along with what you want to correct, we will suggest the kind of VI Peel that works best in your scenario.

  • Skin Cleansing

Chemical peels need a clean canvas, so our providers will prep the skin beforehand. A gentle cleanser is used to reduce impurities such as makeup, oils, and dirt in your pores. Afterward, we will use special pre-treatment products to degrease the skin, which is essential for product penetration.

  • Peel Application

A soft applicator is used to apply the peel solution in multiple layers. This will stay on your skin for the next four to six hours, until you have to remove it at home. You’ll be given clear instructions on how you can do it correctly.

  • Recovery

After getting the peel and washing it off, your skin will look a bit red. Your healing response kicks in at this point and begins shedding the unhealthy skin cells. Depending on the type of VI peel, the skin will either flake or shed in thin sheets. Don’t pull or pick at them, as this could lead to scarring or more pigmentation.

  • Results

Most of the peeling should be over after about eight to 10 days, at which point you should notice a smoother skin tone. Surface imperfections such as age spots should fade, and the acne should calm down. It can take a few months for the wrinkles and fine lines to soften, as the new cells need time to mature.

    Pre-Treatment and Comfort
Clients should steer clear of harsh skincare products such as exfoliants, acids, and retinoids for at least a week pre-treatment. These sensitize the skin and can lead to more irritation after the procedure.
The Cosmelan® treatment is well-tolerated by most people and requires no anesthesia. That said, a topical numbing cream can be applied upon request if your skin is particularly sensitive.

What to Expect During and After Cosmelan®?

Cosmelan® treatments are customized based on your skin’s needs and long-term goals. That said, our providers keep some steps standard for consistency, effectiveness, and safety. Here’s what you can expect:

    • Consultation

We’ll discuss your goals and come up with a personalized treatment plan. Our providers will take into account your skin sensitivities and concerns, along with your history with hyperpigmentation.

    • Area Prepping

Our providers will cleanse the skin using gentle products to ensure there’s no dirt or lingering makeup left. This way, there won’t be a barrier between the skin and the product.

    • Mask Application

We will apply the mask evenly on the target area, depending on your needs. The solution will stay there for a few minutes until it dries sufficiently, after which you can go home. The solution remains on your skin for the next eight to 12 hours, after which you can remove it with a gentle facial cleanser and lukewarm water.

    • Home Treatment Instructions

You’ll be given the instructions on how to properly apply the Cosmelan® 2 cream and other products. This lets you reach optimal results without delay, with your skin gradually brightening with every application.

    • Recovery

Expect some mild redness over the next five to seven days, along with some dryness and a slight warming sensation. These effects are a sign that the mask is doing its job and has begun removing the damaged layers of the skin. Use a gentle moisturizer and avoid exfoliating products for the time being. Broad-spectrum sunblock is not just recommended, but essential.

    • Results

The timeline for the results depends on your level of pigmentation. Most clients notice significant improvement after two to three weeks, but the skin quality keeps improving over the next few months. Use the Cosmelan® 2 cream every day for best results.
